In COMMONAIR, citizens use simple devices to measure temperature, heat stress, and air quality along their everyday routes. The shared results help better understand local climate impacts and support the development of climate adaptation measures.

What are the aims of the project?

COMMONAIR is a project that helps cities in the Alpine region better adapt to climate change. Together with citizens, scientists, and local authorities, the project collects local data on heat, air quality, and outdoor comfort to better understand urban microclimates. These insights support well-informed decisions in urban planning, health, and environmental policy. At the same time, people can actively participate, learn about climate adaptation, and contribute their own experiences. By sharing results across regions, COMMONAIR helps spread effective solutions and create lasting impact.

How can you participate in the project?

In COMMONAIR, people can take part by collecting environmental data along their own, self-chosen routes within the pilot area. Using simple measurement devices, they record factors such as heat, outdoor comfort, or air quality in their everyday surroundings. No prior knowledge is required, as clear instructions and support are provided. Participants can also join public events, workshops, and discussion formats to learn more and exchange experiences. The collected data are analysed together with scientists and local authorities and help identify problem areas and possible climate adaptation measures in the city.
