The Association of Austrian Librarians is a non-profit organisation that promotes the library, documentation and information sector in Austria. It represents the interests of its members at home and abroad and is committed to forward-looking education and training in the academic library sector.
Key activities include networking members and providing regular updates on new and interesting developments in librarianship and information science. In collaboration with foreign professional associations, international specialist organisations and related domestic professional associations, the VÖB aims to enhance public awareness of the importance of the library, information and documentation sector. Libraries support citizen science projects by leveraging their existing research support services, strong and diverse networks, and contact with various users. They also optimise the accessibility of their own collections by using these projects as a means to this end.
